Twitter makes late-night tweeting easy

Twitter has finally introduced a much-hyped feature, Night mode. Yesterday, the micro-blogging website came under the limelight as it announced the launch of its highly anticipated night mode feature on Android platform.

For the unfamiliar, the night mode allows users to change the interface from the white background to dark. The company tested the dark-mode feature on a select few users over the past few months.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You cannot access direction in life without asking God for it at the place of prayer.

Sometime ago, during a 21-day prayer and fasting programme, a young man in our church gave a testimony of how he went to a bank to withdraw about five hundred thousand Naira (N500,000.00) and then drove to a shopping mall with the money inside his car. He stepped inside a shopping mall to buy some items leaving the money in his car. While he was in the shopping mall, he suddenly felt uneasy so he went outside, and on looking at where he parked his car, he saw hoodlums attempting to break into his car in order to get away with the money. He immediately raised alarm which led to the arrest of those hoodlums. Thus his money was preserved as a result of the spiritual direction (signal) he received in a moment.

When we invest our time at the place of prayer; such directions become very easy to access. This kind of direction is needed for our daily living; to know who is a friend and who is not, who to marry and who not to marry, etc.

Asking provokes direction (Jeremiah 6:16). You cannot access direction in life without asking God for it at the place of prayer.

At 2AM, in the dark morning hours of June 28th, Mark Zuckerberg woke up and got on a plane. He was traveling to an aviation testing facility in Yuma, AZ, where a small Facebook team had been working on a secret project. Their mission: to design, build, and launch a high-altitude solar-powered plane, in the hopes that one day a fleet of the aircraft would deliver internet access around the world.

Zuckerberg arrived at the Yuma Proving Ground before dawn. “A lot of the team was really nervous about me coming,” Zuckerberg said in an interview with The Verge. A core group of roughly two dozen people work on the drone, named Aquila (uh-KEY-luh), in locations from Southern California to the United Kingdom. For months, they had been working in rotations in Yuma, a small desert city in southwestern Arizona known primarily for its brutal summer temperature. Read more here

Verizon plans to buy Yahoo for $4.83 billion

Wireless provider expects deal to be completed by early next year

Verizon today announced that it plans to acquire Yahoo for $4.83 billion, confirming a deal that was first reported last week. In a press release, the internet service provider said that Yahoo will be integrated with Aol, which Verizon acquired last year for $4.4 billion.

Under the deal, Verizon will acquire Yahoo's online brands and email service, which has around 225 million monthly active users worldwide. In addition to Yahoo's than 1 billion users, Verizon will gain the web giant's Brightroll programmatic ad service, as well as other advertising and analytics services. The deal does not include Yahoo's cash or its stakes in Alibaba and Yahoo Japan. Those entities will remain under Yahoo, which will change its name once the deal closes and become a publicly traded investment company.

Microsoft will kick off sales of its new Xbox One S starting Tuesday, August 2.

There is one catch. The Xbox One S will be available in three different capacities and price tags -- a 500GB version for $299, a 1TB version for $349 and a 2TB version for $399. However, only the 2TB version lifts off on August 2, Matt Lapsen, general manager for Xbox Devices Marketing, said in a blog post on Monday.

Soichiro HondaSōichirō Honda (本田宗一郎, Honda Sōichirō, November 17, 1906 – August 5, 1991) was a Japanese engineer and industrialist, and founder of Honda Motor Co., Ltd..[1]

Honda was born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan on November 17, 1906. He spent his early childhood helping his father, Gihei, a blacksmith, with his bicycle repair business. At the time his mother, Mika, was a weaver. At 15, without any formal education, Honda left home and headed to Tokyo to look for work. He obtained an apprenticeship at a garage in 1922, and after some hesitation over his employment, he stayed for six years, working as a car mechanic before returning home to start his own auto repair business in 1928 at the age of 22.

In 1937 Honda began producing piston rings for small engines, which led to manufacturing small engines to be used in motorcycles, and then in 1948 he started producing complete motorcycles as president of the Honda Motor Company. Honda turned the company into a billion-dollar multinational that produced the best-selling motorcycles in the world. Honda's excellent engineering and clever marketing resulted in Honda motorcycles out-selling Triumphand Harley-Davidson in their respective home markets. In 1959 Honda Motorcycles opened its first dealership in the United States.

Honda remained president until his retirement in 1973, stayed on as director, and was appointed "supreme adviser" in 1983. His legendary status was such that People magazine placed him on their "25 Most Intriguing People of the Year" list for 1980, dubbing him "the Japanese Henry Ford." Bill Gates was born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle in a family having rich business, political and community service background. His great-grandfather was a state legislator and a mayor, his grandfather was vice president of national bank and his father was a lawyer.

Bill believed in achieving his goals through hard work. He also believes that if you are intelligent and know how to use your intelligence, you can reach your goals and targets. From his early days Bill was ambitious, competitive and intelligent. These qualities helped him to attain great position in the profession he chose also Bill was deemed by his peers and his teachers as the smartest kid on campus; Bill’s parents came to know their son’s intelligence and decided to enroll him in a private school, known for its intense academic environment. That was the most important decision in Bill Gate’s life where he was first introduced to computers. In the next year, they got their first opportunity in Information Sciences Inc. in which they were selected as programmers. ISI (Information Sciences Inc.) agreed to give them royalties, whenever it made money from any of the group’s program. Bill Gates and his close friend Allen formed a new company of their own, Traf-O-Data. They developed a small computer to measure traffic flow. From this project they earned around $20,000. The era of Traf-O-Data came to an end when Gates left the college. Upon graduating from Lakeside Bill enrolled in Harvard University in 1973, one of the best universities in the country, He didn’t know what to do, so he enrolled his name for pre-law. He took the standard freshman courses with the exception of signing up for one of Harvard’s toughest mathematics courses. He did well over there, but he couldn’t find it interesting too. He spent many long nights in front of the school’s computer and the next day asleep in class. After leaving school, he almost lost himself from the world of computers. Gates and his friend Paul Allen remained in close contact even though they were away from school. They would often discuss new ideas for future projects and the possibility of starting a business one fine day. At the end of Bill’s first year, Allen came close to him so that they could follow some of their ideas. That summer they got job in Honeywell. Allen kept on pushing Bill for opening a new software company.

Within a year, Bill Gates dropped out from Harvard. Then he formed Microsoft. Microsoft’s vision is “A computer on every desk and Microsoft software on every computer”. Bill is a visionary person and works very hard to achieve his vision. His belief in high intelligence and hard work has put him where he is today. He does not believe in mere luck or God’s grace, but just hard work and competitiveness. Bill’s Microsoft is good competition for other software companies and he will continue to stomp out (challenge) the competition until he dies. He likes to play the game of Risk and the game of world domination. His beliefs are so powerful, which have helped him increase his wealth and his monopoly in the industry.

Bill Gates is not a greedy person. In fact, he is quite giving person when it comes to computers, internet and any kind of funding. Some years back, he visited Chicago’s Einstein Elementary School and announced grants benefiting Chicago’s schools and museums where he donated a total of $110,000, a bunch of computers, and provided internet connectivity to number of schools. THEME: CALLED UNTO GREATNESS

Read : Luke 5:1-10

5:1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

5:2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

5:3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

5:4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.5:5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

5:6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

5:7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

5:8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

5:9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:

Message

There is something special about the call of God from generation to generation and from dispensation to dispensation. For example, in Genesis, when God made a call among the Trinity about the creation of man, something great came out of that call and that is the uniqueness of man as a special creation. It should be remembered that there was no call at all when other creatures were created. After the fall, there were many generations up to the time of Abram and when God called Abram and changed his name to Abraham, his life never remained the same.

In our Bible reading for today, we read about the call of Peter into the office of apostleship. When at the lake of Gennesaret, Peter had no idea of the awesomeness of the call when Jesus said to him: "Fear not, from henceforth thou shalt catch men." (Luke 5:10). Peter, an ordinary fisherman, became great as a result of this 'simple' call.
Many Cathedrals have been built and named after Peter, the frustrated fisherman before his encounter with Jesus.
One can see that a single encounter with Jesus can make a great difference in one's life. Jesus is calling someone today as you read this devotional and He is saying:
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls."
Matthew 11:28-29

To have a profitable encounter with Jesus, certain things must be done. You must answer His call. He is calling you to follow Him, but you must not just follow Him, you must learn of Him, and all the ideals He brought from His Father must be imbibed by you. Jesus said:
"My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself."
John 7:16-17

Learning of Jesus entails living according to how He lived here on earth. His life of obedience to the will of His Father must be emulated. The Bible enjoins us to have the same mind like Christ (Philippians 2:5-11), and we shall experience great elevation like Jesus did. God is calling us to be like Him; He wants to make us great. May we not refuse His call today; firstly for salvation and secondly for service.

TOPIC: YOUR GIFT AND YOUR LIFT

SCRIPTURE: A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men. – Proverbs 18:16

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You cannot hoard your potentials and reach your destiny.

From the above passage, we can ascertain that a man's gift does not only make room for him but has the capacity to catapult him from nothingness to prominence.

Your gift is key to your lift; your gift is your vehicle to your destiny; and your potential is your access to your possibilities.

But the fact is that our talents or gifts are not at equal levels. So, do not let the consciousness of people feeling intimidated by your potentials thwart your capacity to manifest them.

The truth is, by the time we arrive in eternity, God will ask us, “The potentials that I bypassed several people to give you, how did you use them? Did you leave them redundant? Did you use them to gain popularity for yourself or did you use them to expand my Kingdom and impact humanity?”

Beloved, You cannot hoard your potentials and reach your destiny; you cannot hoard what you can do and become what you are meant to become in life. Impossible!

I prophesy to you, as you determine to deploy your gift(s), you shall experience a lift to a higher level, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: You cannot hoard your potentials and reach your destiny.

ASSIGNMENT (S):

1. If you have not yet discovered your gifts or potentials, go to God at the place of prayer to discover them.

2. From this moment, begin to take deliberate steps towards the deployment of your potentials to your generation.

FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE: SECRETS OF GENERATIONAL IMPACT
